The TRUTH About Fasted Workouts????????

Fasting is a hot topic these days and many women think that working out in a fasted state will help them lose fat faster. Nothing could be further from the truth!

And here’s why…

Working out fasted and the research behind it is mainly done for men’s bodies! Working out in a fasted state sounds like it should maximize results. You are already not eating so it will help you burn calories while you are in a deficit, right?

The truth is, the female body will not just tap right into those fat cells and so much of this is due to stress on the body in the form of cortisol.

Women’s bodies deal with cortisol much differently than men’s. So what do we need to know about it?

When you wake up in the morning and you don’t have any caloric input, your cortisol is already at its highest point. Then, adding the stress of a workout directly on top of it will spike your cortisol even more.

Without having any blood sugar regulation in your nutrients, this will actually cause your body to hold on to fat! The cortisol spike and blood sugar drop will also make it much harder for you to regulate cortisol and blood sugar throughout the rest of the day.

The best way to prepare your body for fat burning is to have even a small amount of quality nutrients before your workout. It doesn’t have to be much – 100-150 calories will even do it!
