I am always surprised when I hear about a new healthy snack or salad or health food that doesn’t incorporate protein!
Protein should be the first building block of every meal and here’s why:
Protein helps you…
1. Build and maintain muscle – this is essential for bone health, burning more calories and more energy.
2. Weight loss/maintenance – with muscle mass comes that ability to maintain or lose weight more easily. You also feel more satisfied when eating enough protein.
3. Fight Stress – if your body is under stress, you will naturally want more quick energy aka sugars. But the stress is going to quickly store those sugars as fat. How do you combat that? eat more protein!
4. Sleep Better – Protein at night can really help your sleep and muscle repair at night!
5. Restore imbalance/constitution – if you have hormonal issues, PCOS, PMS, menopause, etc. you need more protein! How much illness can your body fight off? Protein will be key in boosting this.
