How to Pick the Best Protein Bar

Which Protein Bar is right for YOU?

Protein bars are a great way to get extra protein in your day, curb your hunger and keep you satisfied.

But its not all about taste, right? The quality and nutrients inside the bar is also incredibly important.

Let’s take a look at some popular bars and what’s inside:

Kind bars: These are great snack bars. I don’t keep them in stock often, but if I am out and need a quick snack, I will grab these! Because it only has 6 grams of protein, it isn’t my usual snack.

Hemp bars: Its whole food, so that’s great! Hemp protein is actually not the first ingredient – the first ingredients are from dates and fruit which is why the carbs are higher. The flavor is good and if you are on a higher carb day, this could be an option.

Bob’s Red mill: Bob’s has great products! The texture of these bars is a little dry, but tasty. The carb and sugar count is quite high, so keep that in mind. Main source of protein is peanut.

Dang: This bar has a great flavor but a little crumbly texture. The ratio of protein to carb is excellent! They use a pea + rice protein blend which is a complete protein. It’s only 9 grams of protein, but this would be great for a lower carb day.

Go Macro: This one is so delicious! Very chewy. This has 11 grams of protein but 30 grams of carb and 10 grams of sugar. If you are doing high carb day, this would be a great option.

Primal Kitchens: The carb to protein ratio on this one is great! Keep in mind, the protein in this bar is cashews and collagen. Collagen is great, but it is not a complete protein!

Vital Proteins: This is also a collagen bar. It has a higher carb count, but it does have 16 grams of protein which is great!

No Cow: This has the highest amount of protein! The carb to protein ratio is also great and the sugar is low. This is the pea + rice protein blend which is also great! This is one of my favorites for that big 20 gram protein goal.

Each of these could be great in a certain scenario, depending on your goals!
