How Stress Impacts Hormones

With all the changes recently, stress for many women is increased! I want to share how this can impact your hormones, so that you understand what your body is going through and you are experiencing!

In our culture, most of us are running at 100 miles an hour at all times, so we are already under certain levels of stress. The recent downshift that comes with social distancing and removing activities might seem like it reduces stress, but the opposite is most often true. Why? because your routines are changing and things are changing every day!

Your hormones and cycle may react to this stress and it can cause some cycle irregularities! You might not see this right away, since the female body takes time to react.

The most important thing with stress is to look at the root cause. Overstimulation, under eating, stressful family dynamics, it all counts!

Many women do not realize that the hypothalamus holds the stress response but also controls ovulation – which can explain a longer cycle or missed period when under stress.

Here are some ways you can start to combat this stress and keep your hormones regulated:

– seed cycling
– eating for your cycle
– stress management

If you are ready for a more individualized approach, my 12 week program is for you! You will get a complete eating for your cycle meal guide (with seed cycling!), coaching calls with me, group accountability & support, etc.

If you have been on the fence about joining the program and have questions about how it will work for you, schedule a call with my team here: https://calendly.com/drbethteam/30-minute-meeting
