Let’s kick that PMS (without using birth control!)
PMS is one of the many things women have been told to ignore, deal with or medicate to survive every month. Bad PMS symptoms can make you feel crazy and take over entire days and weeks, and it’s time to say goodbye to the rollercoaster!
So, where does PMS come from?
Hormone imbalance – this one might seem obvious, but the imbalance can look different for each woman! Too much estrogen, too little progesterone, hormone metabolism issues, cortisol issues, estrogen/progesterone balance, androgen levels, etc…
Nutrient Deficiency – many women don’t realize that nutritional deficiency leading up to their period can be a big trigger for PMS. Nutritional support can go a LONG way to mediate PMS symptoms!
Slow Digestion – your gut health directly impacts your ability to absorb nutrients, metabolism hormones and flush things through. If your digestion is off, PMS symptoms are often much worse.
The good news? Each of these can be improved with the right tools and consistency! None of this requires hormonal birth control, which is often the first thing that is prescribed to “mask” PMS issues.
Here are 3 ways to improve your PMS:
DUTCH hormone testing – this at-home urine test is my favorite way to see exactly what is going on with your hormone levels so we can balance things individually to you!
MORE protein, fats and minerals! You might as well call me the “protein lady” because I talk about it so much. Protein is KEY for optimal nutrition and hormone balance, along with more good quality fats and minerals (electrolytes!).
Apple Cider Vinegar drink – I share this drink often because it is SO helpful for digestive issues. Start your day with this liquid gold:
1-2 T ACV
Squeeze of lemon
1 tsp fresh ginger, or to taste
1 tsp turmeric, or to taste
Water to dilute, add to taste
Once you support your hormones, nutrition and digestion, it is incredible what changes you can see!
If you would like to get started with a DUTCH hormone test and a complete protocol to go with it, I would love to work with you!
